Călărași became brighter after the building of the Museum of History and Ethnography in the town was architecturally illuminated, with the support provided by the European Union. Thus, the inhabitants of Călărași, but also its visitors will be able to admire the museum building in all its splendor, both during the day and at night. The architectural lighting of the building of the Museum of History and Ethnography in the city of Călărași was officially put into operation on February 9, during a festive event.

The purpose of the installation is to highlight the architecture of the Museum building during the night, the artistic and cultural value of the building, which will increase the tourist attractiveness of Călărași. The works took place within the project implemented with the financial support of the European Union "Efficient public lighting in Călărași-Firefly in the heart of forests", by the City Hall of Călărași, in partnership with IDIS "Viitorul".

"Today we are with the people of Călărași at this event to discuss the support provided by the European Union which brings positive results for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Among the most tangible results in Călărași we can mention the modernization of public lighting for the city and stadium, architectural lighting for the museum, increased expertise for the local administration and a better awareness of the local population regarding energy efficiency. These results will benefit the inhabitants and visitors of Călărași by reducing CO2 emissions, lower operating costs and increased comfort and safety at night. I am glad to see that this project promotes the values ​​of the European Union in Călărași and we look forward to seeing the street lighting works successfully completed", said Peter Michalko, Ambassador of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova.

In his turn, the mayor of Călărași, Ion Olari mentioned: “Through the energy efficiency project, implemented with the EU support, we installed at the Museum of History and Ethnography in the city several artistic lighting fixtures that represent a play of colors that highlights the architectural elements on the facade of the building. As a result, the appearance of the museum has improved, but also of Călărași, bringing added value to the visitors who want to know the city and all the skilled crafts in our region ”.

„Thanks to the architectural lighting, the History Museum in Călărași has become more attractive for citizens and tourists who visit this cultural institution with pleasure. We are grateful to the EU Delegation, but also to the project partners for making this achievement possible and putting this tourist objective in a new light ", added Liubomir Chiriac, executive director of IDIS "Viitorul” and project manager.

The works included the lighting of the constructive and ornamental elements of the building of the Museum of History and Ethnography from Călărași with 24 LED-based projectors for the architectural lighting. The museum courtyard is also lit by several modern lanterns. This will encourage the organization of cultural and artistic activities during the evening and night on the territory of the museum and will be an additional element of motivation for the museum administration to enrich the calendar of events. The architectural lighting of the Museum of History and Ethnography in Călărași is particularly important because since 2017 the city of Călărași is part of a national tourist route.

„The museum building is the only one in Călărași, architecturally illuminated and this is a premiere for our town This artistic lighting will determine passers-by to visit us, to attract new tourists and to hold several events in the museum courtyard. We strongly believe that the facade of the museum building, is highlighted by its light and color, will transpose the history of this land into images, lights and colors", considers Mariana Iurcu, museographer at the Museum of History and Ethnography in Călărași.

The architectural lighting of the Museum of History and Ethnography in Călărași cost 145 thousand lei, and the electricity consumption was reduced by 30% compared to January 2020.

„The building of the Museum of History and Ethnography from Călărași has an artistic value through the characteristic architectural elements it presents, and the architectural lighting project intended to highlight these elements at night. Special attention was paid to the light so that it harmonizes with the current colors of the facade obtaining a warm shade of colors. Also, the emphasis was on the efficiency of energy consumption to minimize the costs related to the operation of the system", underlined the energy expert, Ion Muntean.

The architectural lighting of the Museum of History and Ethnography in Călărași is one of the objectives of the energy efficiency project in Călărași, implemented with the support of the European Union. The project involves the installation of a 21-kilometer lighting network and the architectural lighting of the History Museum in the city of Călărași. As a result, the project will ensure a real saving of 6,500 euros/year, will reduce CO2 emissions and maintenance and operating costs.
