The project "Supporting democracy, independence and transparency of key public institutions in Moldova" is financed by the SlovakAid – Official Development Assistance of the Slovak Republic

Promoting transparency and financial sustainability of regional policies, state-owned enterprises and local authorities in Moldova

Duration: 
October 2019 – March 2021

Goal:

The goal of this project is to reduce the risk of “state capture” and “power abuse” and also to improve democracy in Moldova. This will be achieved by transferring know-how from unique and highly-rated projects implemented in Slovakia and by building on previous activities implemented in Moldova with the support of SlovakAid and the US Embassy in Chisinau.

Specific objectives:

  1. To support public debate about the current state of democracy in Moldova.
  2. To strengthen the independence of key regulatory and judiciary institutions in Moldova.
  3. To increase transparency and support the implementation of anti-corruption measures in state-owned companies and local governments in Moldova.

Key outputs:

  1. Report on current state and development of democracy in Moldova.
  2. Report on the independence of key public institutions in Moldova.
  3. Updating transparency and financial health ratings of: public enterprises: http://companies.viitorul.org/ and local governments (cities and regions): http://localbudgets.viitorul.org/ and http://localtransparency.viitorul.org/
