The social consequences of the reforms carried out in the Republic of Moldova, from independence until now, were in the sights of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) "Viitorul" experts working in the Department for Competitive Society. This direction of work appeared at IDIS as a reaction to the Republic of Moldova's confrontation with social vulnerabilities, on the background of serious deficiencies of civic spirit and public education. The department dealing with human rights–related issues appeared first under the name of the “Department for Democratization”, later called “Department for Competitive Society”, was established considering the existence of increasingly serious social risks.
IDIS "Viitorul" occupies a pivotal role at the intersection of academia and policymaking, where it diligently crafts policy analyses and recommendations across a diverse spectrum of public interests. With a keen eye on promoting good governance, the institute delves into multifaceted areas including reintegration policies, security dynamics, socioeconomic landscapes, and gender considerations, all while ensuring adherence to democratic principles and national interests. Through its rigorous research methodologies and engagement with civil society, academic institutions, and research centers, IDIS effectively bridges the gap between theoretical insights and actionable policy measures, fostering an environment conducive to informed decision-making in Moldova.
Reintegration policies represent a cornerstone of IDIS's endeavors, focusing on conflict transformation strategies aimed at facilitating the territorial reintegration of the nation. By harnessing the collective expertise of various societal segments, including civil society organizations and academic institutions, IDIS endeavors to ensure that government actions in this sensitive realm align with the broader national interest and uphold democratic ideals. Through meticulous oversight and informed deliberations, IDIS strives to navigate the intricate complexities inherent in reintegration efforts, thereby contributing to the consolidation of national unity and stability.
Moreover, IDIS maintains a vigilant stance on security issues, recognizing their paramount importance in shaping Moldova's political landscape and its aspirations for European integration. Central to this endeavor is the ongoing examination of political stability, both internally and in the context of European integration.
In this context, IDIS "Viitorul" is preparing the implementation of the " Strengthening Civil Society Resilience in the Republic of Moldova" project, the purpose of which is to strengthen the resilience of organizations and civil society representatives who act as defenders of human rights in the Republic of Moldova, including from the sensitive regions of the country.
