The Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) "Viitorul" is launching a new project that aims to advance the implementation of the Republic of Moldova's Open Government Action Plan for the period 2023 - 2025. The project, entitled "Open governance for engaged citizens," is implemented with the support of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) through the "EU for Integrity" Program in the Eastern Partnership, funded by the European Union (EU), and will run from April 2025 to January 2026.

The initiative addresses key challenges in ensuring good governance and aims to enhance transparency and the principle of co-creation in local-level decision-making processes. At the same time, the project aims to improve transparency and access to open data related to public procurement. The planned activities aim to strengthen the capacities of over 120 officials responsible for public procurement, practical workshops dedicated to open governance, and provide mentoring for at least 20 local public authorities. The project will also include public lessons with students and an information campaign by distributing infographics and informative materials to help citizens access public information and actively participate in decision-making process.

"Through this project, we aim to support public authorities in applying open governance standards and to encourage citizens to actively participate in the decision-making process. This initiative will help build trust in public institutions and advance the European path of the Republic of Moldova It is an initiative that will increase trust in public institutions and advance the European path of the Republic of Moldova," said Carolina Ungureanu, deputy director of IDIS "Viitorul."

The project is built on IDIS "Viitorul"'s extensive, over 15-year experience promoting transparency, integrity, and civic participation in public procurement. It complements national and international reform efforts in this area, which are being implemented closely with the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Finance, and other civil society partners.

The project will contribute to increase transparency, civic trust, and accountability for the Republic of Moldova's public institutions. The initiative also supports the Republic of Moldova's path to European integration and strengthens sustainable reforms in open governance.

Updated information about the project's activities will be available on the website www.viitorul.org  and the platform www.pulsachizitii.md.
